Episcopal parishes are rumbling and grumbling about the recent decision to appoint a woman bishop as the denomination’s presiding bishop, making her the first woman to head any branch of the Anglican Communion, the churches descended from the Church of England. Some have rumbled so loudly that 6 dioceses have already rejected her, with another 5 or so preparing to do so. Part of it is gender (gasp, she’s a woman!) and well, the other part is Jefferts Schori liberal theological method: allowing and performing same-sex marriages, referring to Jesus and "Mother Jesus" in a sermon, and her "all language is metaphorical" belief which has Anglicans flipping over their summarily blessed Bibles.
