NJ state legislators met today for about 4 hours trying to hammer out the budget, but progress seems slow in coming. They’ll be meeting again tomorrow to stare fruitlessly at each other, to the detriment of all.
The reality part of this action will begin on Tuesday evening into Wednesday when casinos, racetracks, and all state parks and beaches will close. On the bright side, you can use the toll roads, and the police will still (because they are funded) be able to pull you over for speeding. Lottery is already closed, as is the DMV, so you can’t get that $3 million dollar lottery ticket in your pocket cashed or buy the car of your dreams with the winnings -- you know, the same car that the police can you ticket you speeding on the toll road going nowhere since the beaches, parks, casinos, and racetrack will all be closed.
